Animals are regular subject for me so animal paintings deserve their own gallery. I started drawing as a child on perhaps the most difficult subject imaginable – horses. In addition to horses, I have mostly painted cats and various wild animals.
Inspired by Animals: Sensitivity and Strength in Art
Animals have always fascinated me and served as a source of inspiration in my art. Each animal I paint carries its own story—its gaze, movements, and essence speak of emotions and moments I wish to convey to the viewer. In my works, I strive to capture moments where the animal is truly itself, whether it’s a majestic wild creature or a small, timid bird. My goal is to reveal the unique nature of each animal and remind us of the wondrous world of nature around us.
Personal Nature Experiences Behind My Art
Many of my works are based on my personal experiences with nature. For example, the painting Thirsty was inspired by a moment when I saw a small deer drinking from the shore during a kayaking trip near our cottage. Peeper was born from a spring encounter, when a weasel curiously peeked through a gap in the fence. The fox in Mother, it stayed to look at us appeared during a family trip, and the title was given by my youngest child, who observed the fox stop and watch us as we drove by. These moments are precious to me and create a special connection to my art. I hope that through them, the authenticity of nature and the uniqueness of these encounters are also conveyed to the viewer.
The Significance of Animals and Nature
Animals are important to many of us; as pets, they brighten our everyday lives and remind us of our connection to nature. Through my art, I want to invite the viewer to pause for a moment, step into the world of animals, and remember that we are all part of the same web of life. I hope that my paintings bring joy and inspiration to the viewer, as well as a new connection to the animals that deserve our respect and protection.
