I was extremely delighted when I heard that my painting had been accepted as part of the Polish IWS Palac Lucja exhibition, themed “Your Identity Through Watercolour.” This significant event was scheduled to take place in April 2020, marking the first time my artwork would be physically showcased abroad. The idea that my art was valued enough to step onto the international stage felt truly meaningful.
My painting, titled “Soul Here and Far Away,” was a very personal piece for me. In the painting, a woman (myself) sits on a suitcase on a beautiful summer day on an island, gazing at the lake. She simultaneously longs to travel far away and wishes to spend the summer at the island cottage. This conflict reflects my life well – I constantly have wanderlust and a desire to see new places, yet I wouldn’t want to go anywhere during the summer.
UPDATE 7/2020: However, as life often unfolds, plans had to wait. In July 2020, I received news that due to the spread of the coronavirus, the Palac Lucja exhibition and related events had been postponed. The new date was set for September 11-14, 2020.
